Privacy Policy

BEC Capture is a Chrome extension and web service for capturing screenshots and creating step-by-step guides. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What We Collect

We do NOT collect:

• Browsing history or pages you visit
• Keystrokes, passwords or form data
• Data from pages you do not explicitly capture
• Any data automatically without a direct user action

How We Use Your Data

• Screenshots are processed locally in your browser. They are only sent to our servers when you explicitly click "Share via URL".
• Uploaded reports are stored at app.becshare.com and accessible via the share link you receive. You control who can view them.
• Account data (name, email) is used only to identify you in the portal and on shared reports.
• We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or any purpose other than providing the service.

Extension Permissions Explained

cookies	To set your login session on app.becshare.com so report pages recognise you
<all_urls>	To inject the step-recording toolbar on any website you are documenting. No data is collected from pages unless you explicitly click capture.

Data Storage and Retention

• Uploaded reports are stored on servers in the EU.
• Reports expire automatically after the expiry period you set (default 30 days).
• You can delete any report immediately from your portal dashboard.
• Account deletion removes all your data from our servers within 24 hours.
• Local extension data (steps, settings) is stored only in your browser via chrome.storage.local and never leaves your device unless you share.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties. The share link you create is accessible to anyone who has the URL — this is the intended functionality. You can add password protection to restrict access.

Your Rights

• Access: View all your data in the portal dashboard.
• Delete: Delete individual reports from the dashboard, or delete your entire account from Settings.
• Export: Download any report as an HTML file at any time.
• Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all locally stored data immediately.

Cookies

The website app.becshare.com uses a single session cookie (bec_sid) to keep you logged in. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the last revision. Continued use after changes means acceptance. Material changes will be noted in extension update release notes.
